A useful message changes a verified business state—or transfers it cleanly.
The useful unit of WhatsApp automation is not a conversation; it is a completed, consented business workflow with an accountable handoff.
Super Intelligence can make messaging more flexible, but it should not silently invent prices, policies, medical guidance or delivery promises. Use language models for interpretation; use systems of record for facts and commitments.
- 01Capture explicit, purpose-specific opt-in and make opt-out simple.
- 02Connect the conversation to inventory, orders, appointments or CRM records.
- 03Support Punjabi, Hindi and English without pretending literal translation is localisation.
- 04Transfer context and ownership when a person takes over.
WhatsApp is a channel, not the operating system
Customers in Punjab and across India use WhatsApp because it is familiar. Businesses often treat the inbox as an informal CRM: enquiries, quotations, documents, reminders and support coexist in personal chats. Automation can reduce waiting and repeated typing, but only if the conversation is connected to an authoritative record.
A bot that answers questions while orders, appointments and customer history remain elsewhere creates a new layer of ambiguity. Map the workflow behind the conversation: what starts it, which data is needed, which system owns the truth, what can be completed automatically and when responsibility moves to a person.
Consent is part of the experience
WhatsApp’s business policy requires the person to provide their number and opt in to future messages from the named business. India’s DPDP framework requires clear purpose, appropriate notice and respect for withdrawal where consent is the basis. Store when, where and what the customer accepted—not merely a boolean flag.
- Separate transactional updates from marketing permission.
- State the business name and expected message category at opt-in.
- Make STOP, unsubscribe and channel-preference changes work consistently.
- Do not import old contact lists and assume permission.
Design for intent, evidence and completion
A strong flow identifies intent, gathers only necessary information, retrieves facts from the relevant system and confirms the resulting state. For an appointment, that means an actual slot and booking reference. For an order, it means the status tied to the order record. For a quotation, it means approved price logic or a review queue.
Language models are useful when customers phrase the same need in many ways, mix languages or send unstructured text. Deterministic logic remains better for identity checks, eligibility, calculations, inventory allocation, payment state and policy enforcement.
Build a real human handoff
Escalation triggers should include low confidence, repeated misunderstanding, complaints, vulnerability, policy exceptions and any consequential commitment the automation cannot verify. The agent should provide the human with a concise summary, collected fields, relevant records and what the customer is waiting for.
Ownership must be visible to the customer. Say that a person is taking over, provide a realistic response expectation and prevent the bot from continuing to issue conflicting replies while the case is assigned.
Measure resolution, not message volume
Useful metrics include completion rate by intent, time to verified resolution, opt-out and block rate, human handoff quality, repeat contact and correction rate. High automation with low resolution merely hides work from the dashboard and pushes frustration to another channel.
Start with one frequent workflow—appointment confirmation, order status or lead qualification—then add adjacent journeys when the underlying record and ownership model are reliable. A smaller system that finishes one job is more valuable than a conversational demo that can discuss everything and complete nothing.
Use this before approving the work.
- 01Record purpose-specific opt-in and withdrawal.
- 02Identify the system of record for every fact shown.
- 03Test Punjabi, Hindi, English and mixed-language inputs.
- 04Define human ownership, response time and context transfer.
- 05Measure verified outcomes, corrections and unwanted-message signals.
